April Glossybox - Best One Yet?!

Monday, May 15, 2017

Welcome back to another Glossybox post! I'm trying to throw some different posts in the mix, I'm sure you're tired of seeing only Glossybox products. I know I'm ready to get some fresh new content in the mix, so I'm working on it! Today we're talking April's Glossybox though, and I think it was a pretty great one! We had some extra products and a mystery bonus product this week to test out. You can continue reading this blog post to get an in depth review, OR hop on over to my YouTube channel and check out my FIRST unboxing! Would love to have you leave some love on that video and let me know what you think! So let's check out what I got!

This packaging is so cute to me! This bright aqua blue is so aesthetically pleasing to me! I really like getting these new facial products in Glossybox. Scrubs, masks, lotions - I really like receiving these because it's not a product that I tend to research or spend money on. I've been using the same two facial scrubs for the past 5 years - at least! So it's really nice to see these new products and technologies and brands that offer really great products that I may want to add into my skin routine. This little scrub is such a cool little dude! When I first used this scrub I was in the shower and focused it on my texture and acne problem areas, which is mostly my t-zone. It does have that scrub texture, like little beads, but these are exfoliating micro crystals as it says. And when it says micro, it means micro. These little crystals are so incredibly teeny tiny! But it feels so good on the skin and really makes my skin feel clean and smooth. It doesn't seem to over dry it, which most be the aloe that keeps your skin moisturized while using the cleanser. This is definitely a product that I would purchase, if it were in my price range! :P
Gilchrist & Soames BeeKind Shower Gel & Body Lotion - Available in 8 oz. & 15.5 oz. sets, $28.00 & $46.00 respectively.
This shower gel & body lotion smell great! I like that some of their proceeds go towards helping honey bees, because they are incredibly vital to our crops and of course the pollination of flowers. It is organic and cruelty free. The packaging is also recyclable, which is also really neat! Besides those things, these products don't have any special claims. They're just a body lotion and shower gel to me so I will use them up and that's that.
I had seen a few people post their unboxings on Instagram and when I saw them with this mascara I was STOKED! I am a mascara junkie and have been waiting to get some in a Glossybox! And I am so happy that this a good mascara! I have never heard of this brand and it really just came as this tube in our box. This mascara wand is made of fiber bristles instead of plastic or silicon bristles, so they really work as a brush for your lashes. It coats the lashes really well, making them thicker looking and nice and black. I love the long dramatic thick lashes - not spidery and clumpy - separated and full. The wand itself is pretty wide and can be a little more difficult to finagle around the inner corner or lower lash line. But overall, I really really enjoy this mascara and will continue using it. I definitely think it's one of those mascaras that will get better as it starts drying out a bit.
I'm not too into perfumes, my husband is fairly sensitive to them, so I don't wear them or purchase them often. But, besides the fact that I don't get use out of perfumes often, it's nice to get little sample sizes like this that I can throw in a purse or bag for on the go use. So when I'm out with my girlfriends or shopping around I can be sure that I'm smelling lovely out in public. I really enjoy this scent, even though I prefer muskier, spicy scents. The floral notes of this perfume aren't overpowering and artificial. It is a nice subtle, clean floral/fruity scent that doesn't offend my nose. Here is the perfume notes description from the site: "notes of juicy Mara strawberries," "rose petal macaron," "bottom notes of creamy silky woods."

I knew that these two little guys would be in our April box from the sneak peak from March's info sheet. I own and have used several different Colourpop products so I was excited to get TWO full size lip products from them! Now with this formula, it can either be spot on and matte, comfortable, and transfer proof. Or it is super drying, peeling, and flakes off. These two colors in particular have really great formula. It's thin and liquid-y, which is what makes it dry down smooth and matte and comfortable. Colourpop products are really pigmented, great quality, and an awesome price point! I was really pleased with the shades that I received too! The top shade in the photos above is Teeny Tiny and the bottom shade is Monday. I was really nervous that one of these was going to be a hot pink color. No thanks! Super happy with this product and will most definitely get a lot of use out of these! Colourpop is made in LA and a cruelty free brand.
So Glossybox threw something new in our box this month and included a mystery product that we didn't have any info on or anything! They simply packaged it in this simple, incognito packaging called it "Beauty Shampoo" and let us test out this new product before it was available in stores. I was SUPER confused when I opened the box. I was trying to figure out what was going on because they seriously threw a curveball at me! Haha! When I first smelled this shampoo/conditioner though it immediately made me think of Head & Shoulders, but because it was so floral-y scented I wasn't too sure. So I used, and I currently have color treated hair, and I wasn't the biggest fan. My husband noticed that the scent lingered in my hair the next day. I just didn't like how it left my hair feeling after I got out of the shower. My hair didn't feel anymore moisturized or soft. It felt a little more brittle, especially on the bleached part of my hair. So I will most likely pass this on to my sister-in-law who doesn't have color treated hair and see how she like it!
AND THAT COMPLETES APRIL'S BOX! I was really pleased with this box, like extremely pleased. I absolutely LOVED that there were TWO full sized lip products, I am loving this microdermabrasion exfoliater, and getting a mascara in my box made my day! So I'm rating this box a 9 out of 10. This was a fun one for me! Let me know which products you would have liked out of this box the most! First Glossybox of 2017!

Wednesday, March 01, 2017
New year, new you, right? The New Year is always a great time to start fresh, take on new hobbies, and start tackling those healthy changes. Glossyboxes January box was dedicated to starting fresh and clean! So let's take a look at what was in last month's Glossybox!

So this is what each month's Glossybox will be packaged like, pink box, pink tissue paper, black crinkle stuffing and black ribbon. Each box has a different theme or idea in mind. This month was about starting the new year off fresh and anew! I'm not sure if it was intentional, but I loved that all of the items packaging looked cohesive!

In this month's box, four out of the five products were skin/hair care products and at first I was kind of bummed. When I started actually looking at what the products were and testing them out, I was pleasantly surprised! Then I started thinking about the products I tend to buy myself, and I hardly ever go out of my normal skin/hair care products. So it was nice to have some new products to use and enjoy.

I was actually pretty excited to see this body scrubber in my box this month! You can get this from Ulta and it only costs $5, so it's actually something I might purchase in the future! There are two different sides to this scrubber, a gentle and coarse side for different skin types. I used the gentler side on my face to help exfoliate a little better with my facial scrub. The coarse side I used on my arms and legs. This was actually really helpful after getting back from Mexico because I could get that peeling skin off better! Haha! Also, there's a little tag on the scrubber that helps you figure out when to replace your sponge because the green ink dissolves in water! Super cool in my opinion!

Before each month, Glossybox gives you a little sneak peek into the next box so I knew this item was going to be in the January box. I will have to say I wasn't too excited about it. I'm not one who is too worried about dark circles and puffiness. Don't get me wrong, I definitely have problems with dark circles, but I don't really give much thought to it because hello, concealer! It suggests using it in the morning, but I like using it at night before bed when I'm moisturizing. I don't know if it makes a huge difference, but I definitely like how it feels! So I'll keep using this, and with the amount that's in this it will last me a little while!

This was another product that I wasn't too wowed with at first. Last month I got a liquid highlighter and this month I got a cream blush/lip duo stick. I'm not much of a liquid or cream makeup product person. Sometimes they can be finnicky and messy and just a big hassle to deal with. Anyways, I haven't gotten much use out of that liquid highlighter, but I was surprised with this cream blush! Instead of using it directly on the skin, I applied it to the back of my hand and then picked it up on my makeup brush and blended it into my skin. It gave such a beautiful, natural flush, especially because of the cream consistency. The peachy, golden sheen gave some great color to my skin, too! I want to keep using this in my makeup routine throughout the spring and summer.

If you haven't already realized, I was more impressed with January's box than I anticipated. And picking a favorite product is nearly impossible. This is tied with the next product I'll introduce. I have not heard of AG Hair Care before, but it might become a brand I am going to have to invest in. Their products are created with over 95% of ingredients being bio or photo degradable and many ingredients are naturally derived and organic. They also refrain from testing on animals and seem to be an overall eco-friendly brand. This 2oz sample is great, I've already washed my hair 3 times and probably have another 3 uses. And I have thick hair! It smells amazing and cleans my hair and leaves it soft, shiny, and smooth! This is a product I would definitely repurchase maybe once a year and use it to mix up my shampooing routine. It is a special formula that doesn't require conditioning afterwards, and anything that reduces my time I spend on my hair is a plus!

So this is the product tied with the hair cleanser as my favorite. (Except I would probably choose the hair product as my number one, since this full size is so expensive!) I think this is like the "luxury" item in my box for the month. This 1oz tube is the full size product and retails for $32! But the product smells SO wonderful, and it makes your skin feel so good! And the process is so fun! This exfoliating volcanic mask is light pink when applied and has little grains that help exfoliate the skin. I leave the mask on for about 3-5 minutes and then start rubbing it in with my fingers all over my face. Once you start rubbing the mask and exfoliating it turns gray, which is so fun to watch! After exfoliating you wash it off, and you're left with soft, glowing skin! Again, this product is pretty eco-friendly: vegan, cruelty free, 90% natural ingredients, and free of pthalates and parabens. But I would really love to have this scent in a candle, so amazing!

Well that wraps it up for January's Glossybox! Which item would you like to try the most? If you want to sign up for your own subscription you can use my link! Glossybox Unboxing: December 2016

Tuesday, January 31, 2017
2016 has come and gone! Wow, can't believe it's officially the year 2017 and Trump is our president. It's going to be a very interesting year. I never actually thought that I would be anywhere near living this wonderful life that I am blessed with. It's truly full of amazing people and places that I can't believe I had ever lived without!

Well today is not a life update (I'll make a separate post about that I'm sure), it's about this wonderful subscription box my hubby gifted me for Christmas! Which truly was the most perfect gift, because A) it's beauty products B) it's a surprise every month and C) I get it monthly at my door! On Christmas Day I unwrapped my first box, which was the December 2016 box and I am here to share the lovely goodies I got with you! Yes, it's a tad bit late, but I will also be posting my January box soon because I have already opened that one as well!

Each month comes with a specific theme and interior design in mind, so each box is filled with different goodies for a particular purpose or season. The December box was a New Year celebration theme and the box itself was GORGEOUS! The lid is this beautiful deep blue/purple with little starbursts on it and the box is silver holographic that I love! This box is special though and the other monthly boxes will be a pale pink. I will for sure be keeping these boxes to use for storage because they are pretty sturdy unlike your average cardboard, and they have a more elegant feel to them. Would work great as photo or memory boxes!

Inside you first see this little pamphlet, designed for that month's theme, which explains what your box contains, whether it is full size, and the retail value for the full size product. It also gives tips on how to use the products as well. This is nifty just to see how much these products are truly worth and the value you are getting compared to how much you actually spend on the monthly subscription itself. It's pretty amazing what kind of price points these products are at, as well as where they are from and made.

In each box you get a range of full size and deluxe sample size products. This month I received a full size lipstick and liquid highlighter, as well as the eyeshadow brush (obviously). I really like that the other two products give you enough to truly sample it and get an understanding of how it performs. The eye masks came with two sets/two uses and the clay mask is in this adorable little jar that I can get two to three uses out of, most likely. The two items that I got deluxe samples of are also high end products that I wouldn't even think to splurge on, EVER! So it's nice to be pampered with these items that are a little pricey!

I was really excited to get this eyeshadow brush in my very first box! I really need to invest in some new brushes, but just can't bring myself to spend the money on them. I have heard great things about Luxie brushes from YouTube beauty channels and was stoked that I now get to try one out before investing any money in them! Luxie is a cruelty free and vegan brand as well, which is a plus. Super soft, perfect size, and I definitely will get use out of this product!

Can we all take a moment to fully accept the beauty of this packaging? I was also pretty stoked to get a lipstick in my first Glossybox because I am a lipstick hoarder. Unfortunately, this color leaves me looking a little dead so I will try using it as a topper to soften other colors, or under a liquid lipstick or gloss. It is an interesting mix between brown/pink/gray so it just doesn't look too great on my skin tone. I am definitely keeping it around for a bit because I love looking at this packaging and it feels really luxurious. The texture of the semi-matte feels really nice on the lips as well.

Another makeup product I was happy to see in my December box! Highlighters are super popular right now, but most people prefer powders it seems. This liquid highlighter is in such a beautiful shade I think it would suit most skin tones (probably why they chose this shade). It is a beautiful light champagne gold, with just a hint of pink. In the swatch photo above I have it blended out on the left side of my hand, where you can see a sheen. It gives such a nice, natural glow to the skin and I will definitely be getting some use out of it!

I am so surprised how good this mask smells! This clay mask combines two white clays, Kaolin & Bentonite, which draws out excess oils and impurities. The aloe vera keeps the skin hydrated and soothes it as well. I received a deluxe sample size with 0.5 fl. oz and I am actually pretty happy with that amount. I think that this little jar is going to give me a few good uses out of it, at least enough to use in my t-zone area quite a few times. It suggests to use this product 1-2 times a week to help with excess oils and dirt for "purified pores" and softer skin. So it seems like this is will be a milder clay mask that won't dry out my face too much. I'll update this post once I get a few uses out of it!

First of all, these contain actual diamond powder. WHAT?! This makes me feel like a queen! I am putting diamonds on my face, who does that? I wish I had an unlimited supply of these because this would make any bad day turn into the most fabulous day ever, am I right? I have not yet tried these out, mostly because it is such a luxury product that I will never get to try again! And they are absolutely gorgeous to look at! LOOK AT IT SPARKLE! These masks are meant to lift, firm, brighten and hydrate the under eye area. They also help diminish fine lines and wrinkles around the eyes. So pretty much these are magic, and instead of "diamond powder" it's actual pixie dust.  This company also sells face masks - just like this product only made for the entire face - which retails at $2,500.

Overall I am extremely satisfied with my very first Glossybox! I know that this box is a little more "special" since it's the December box and I think that they probably put a little more thought into curating this box because I think a lot of people subscribe around Christmas. They also have a special edition box for Christmas that you can order, but I am very happy that Anthony chose this box as my first! He did such a great job picking out my Christmas gift this year. My main love language is gifts, and he's not as conscious of thinking about getting me things or surprising me, so he intentionally bought me a subscription box so I would be getting new things every month! I really thought that was so sweet and thoughtful of him! Good job babe!
